4U1UN - 4U1UN has been active again since 11 April. As part of the Stay Home movement, during the UN HQ building lockdown, the United Nations Radio Club has been granted special permission to utilize a very limited remote operation possibility. Considering the demand for digital modes for 4U1UN, operation will be limited to FT8 mode only. The operator at the keyboard is James, K2QI. QSL via LoTW, or via HB9BOU (direct or bureau).

EA - Celebrating World Amateur Day and IARU's 95th anniversary, ten special callsigns will be active on 15-30 April: AM95WARD, AM1WARD, AM2WARD, AM3WARD, AM4WARD, AM5WARD, AM6WARD (Balearic Islands), AM7WARD, AM8WARD (Canary Islands) and AM9WARD (Ceuta & Melilla).

EY - TAJIKISTAN. Nodir, EY8MM, informs OPDX that "after 10 years of being QRT, the EY Hams can now operate on the 50 MHz band again. Analog broadcasting on Ch1 has been stopped early 2020." He also informs that his EY8MM 6m station setup is fully operational. Nodir has already started EME activity and will be active in the upcoming Es season. SPECIAL QSL NOTE. Nodir states, "Please note that my QSL Manager K1BV (Infected by Covid-19) is temporary not accepting QSL cards direct or by the Bureau. Please refrain from sending cards until further information is announced. I will upload QSOs to LoTW on regular basis.

F - The Association Promotion Radio Amateur du 62 (F4KLR) will be active as TM18JUIN in May (8-9, 23-24 and 30-31) and June (6-7, 13-14, 18-21 and 27) to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the "Appeal of 18 June" made by Charles de Gaulle from the BBC in London. All QSOs will be confirmed automatically via the bureau and eQSL; direct requests via F4AHN. Often regarded as the origin of the French Resistance against the occupation during World War II,the appeal is one of the most remarkable pieces in the history of radio broadcasting, and as such it has been inscribed to the UNESCO's Memory of the World Register.

G - Members of the Bury Radio Society (G3BRS) will operate as GB9WYH From 13 April until 11 May. The special callsign, whose suffix stands for Wash Your Hands, is being activated to raise awareness and reinforce the message that washing hands will save lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the UK regulator (Ofcom) is "happy for radio amateurs to add /NHS to the end of their call signs" if they want to show their support for the National Health Service.

HA - The Hungarian Amateur Radio Society (MRASZ) has joined the Stay at Home campaign with five special callsigns whose suffixes form the popular motto: HG20ST, HG20AY, HG20AT, HG20HO and HG20ME. HZ - SAUDI ARABIA (6m News). The Saudi Amateur Radio Society (SARS) has announced that HZ radio amateurs can now use the 50-54MHz band with a maximum power of 50w. The first contacts took place on April 2nd.

LA - The Norwegian National Guard's Radio Amateur Club (LA1V) has been granted permission to use the special callsign LN1V throughout 2020 to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Norway at the end of World War II (8 May 1945). QSL direct to LA4LN.

PA - Vincent, PE2V will be active as PE75BORNE until 4 April 2021 to celebrate both the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the city of Borne during World War II (3 April 1945) and the 75th anniversary of the VERON, the Dutch IARU society which was founded on 21 October 1945. VE - The Grassroots Amateur Radio Club (VO1GRC) will be active as XN1BOA between 25 April and 25 May to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of the Battle of the Atlantic. QSL via operator's instructions

VK - The Wireless Institute of Australia (https://www.wia.org.au/) will celebrate World Amateur Radio Day and the society's 110th anniversary for six months starting on 17 April at 14 UTC. WIA official stations that will operate across Australia are VI110WIA, VK1WIA, VK2WIA, VK3WIA, VK4WIA, VK5WIA, VK6WIA, VK7WIA and VK8WIA. QSL via LoTW and eQSL; a commemorative certificate will be available for contacting one or more of these special event stations.

VK - VI250COOK is a special event callsign granted to the Cairns Amateur Radio Club (VK4CNS) for use from 1 May to 31 August. It commemorates the 250th anniversary since Captain James Cook and the HMS Endeavour charted the East Coast of Australia, sailing from what is now Sydney to what is now Cooktown.

CONTEST UNIVERSITY 2020 ---> The Dayton event has been cancelled, but CTU 2020 will still take place on 14 May. It will be held online free of charge via Zoom, starting at 12.45 UTC (08.45 EDT). The link will be available on 7 May on https://www.contestuniversity.com/, where the Course Outline page is already up and running. CTU 2020 will end at 22 UTC (18 EDT) with the presentation of this year's CQ Contest Hall of Fame.

HAM RADIO FRIEDRICHSHAFEN CANCELLED ---> As large-scale public events will remain banned in Germany until 31 August owing to the COVID-19 crisis, the 45th Ham Radio Friedrichshafen will not take place on 26-28 June as planned. The 2020 event has been cancelled, and Ham Radio will return on 25-27 June 2021. For the time being, "exhibitors will be presenting product innovations in the form of a virtual trade fair" and DARC "will be offering presentations" on the Ham Radio website: http://www.hamradio-friedrichshafen.de/.

NEW IOTA CHECKPOINT ---> The IOTA Management Team has announced the appointment with immediate effect of a new checkpoint to cover Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova. Andrei Plotkin, UT5URW (ut5urw[@]yahoo.com) has agreed to take on checkpoint duties, previously covered by Igor Zeldin, UR5LCV (SK).

NEW WPX CONTEST DIRECTOR ---> Joseph W. "Bud" Trench, AA3B is the new Director of the CQ WPX SSB and CW Contests. He succeeds Randy Thompson (K5ZD), who has been serving as Interim Director [425DXN 1509]. Licenced since 1970, Bud has a passion for contesting, and among his achievements are 15 firstplace finishes in the CQ WW DX CW Contest as V26K in the SO LP category, including the current world record. He will start immediately to work with Randy on processing the results of last month's WPX SSB Contest, and will take the reins for next month's WPX CW Contest.

R207RRC ---> The team made about 8,300 QSOs during their 4-11 April operation from Kosa Dvukh Pilotov (AS-207, new one for IOTA). The log has been uploaded to Club Log (https://clublog.org/logsearch/R207RRC) and the OQRS has been enabled.

QSL 9J2LA ---> "The QSL card has now been prepared and was sent yesterday to UX5UO QSL Print", Charles (M0OXO) reported on 14 April. "I estimate the cards will be out in 3-4 weeks depending on the status of the postal service world ide and any potential influence on it by the COVID-19 situation".

QSL VP8PJ ---> "On 10 April the VP8PJ QSL card design was sent to ON5UR's QSL Print Service for review and setup", Gene (K5GS) announced on 12 April. "After our final review is complete the cards will be printed and shipped to M0URX for distribution. Thousands of QSO and mailing labels have already been processed and are ready for placement on QSL cards and direct mail envelopes. Bureau cards will be placed in the system in early 2021. There are no busted call requests in the work queue - to date, all 731 have been investigated and answered by M0URX. LoTW uploads for all donors and anyone who submitted an OQRS for a Direct Mail card have been processed. The
upload process is run daily. The complete log will be uploaded to LoTW six months after the DXpedition". As the COVID-19 crisis is affecting postal systems, direct cards will be mailed as soon as practicable. Please be patient, "there is no need to send e-mails asking about the QSL cards".

TQSL: NEW VERSION ---> A new version (v2.5.3) of LoTW's Trusted QSL (TQSL) has been released: http://www.arrl.org/tqsl-download. This version has new features as well as corrections for defects found since TQSL 2.5.2 was released. TQSL 2.5.3 can be installed to upgrade any older version. On all three supported platforms (Windows, MacOS and Linux), installing TQSL
2.5.3 will replace older versions of Trusted QSL while preserving your Callsign Certificates, Station Locations, and preferences.


H33K QSL ROUTE CHANGE. Jay, HP3AK, for the H33K Group, informs: "Due to problems with the postal service in Panama during the Covid-19 lockdown, we have had to change the QSL routing for the H33K Special Event and contest operation that occurred from March 2nd through March 13th, 2020." Jack, W4JS, has agreed to pick up the QSL Manager duties and has received the log. The logs are already uploaded to LoTW and ClubLog.
The newly printed QSL cards are at PhotoQSLs.com and will be forward to Jack ASAP. Jay has updated the QRZ.com page with the new information showing that W4JS is the (new) QSL Manager.
QSL MANAGER K1BV. It has been reported that Ted, K1BV, is currently very sick, and has been in the hospital since September. Our prayers go out to him for a full recovery. It was suggested to not send cards and waste money until his situation is resolved. Please wait until Ted is back to full service.

TU5PCT QSL STATUS. The TU5PCT QSL cards have been received from the printer. The labels will be printed and then the QSL cards will be taken to the post office. OQRS direct QSOs are already on LoTW.

VK9NS QSL STATUS. Janusz, SP9FIH, reports on April 18th: I just made first upload to LoTW. QSOs requested as direct via OQRS Clublog were uploaded. Please be patient - all QSOs will be uploaded when I am back home. Nobody knows when but I hope before next year... My priority now is making QSOs with all who need Norfolk Island as ATNO. Contact confirmations will wait for some time.


W2, UNITED STATES (Special Event). Look for special event station W2H to be operating during its inaugural year in honor of "World PH Day 2020." On May 5th, W2H will operate on 80/40/20 meters using SSB, FT8/FT4 (normal frequencies), as well as other bands/modes as conditions permit. Check

WHAT IS WORLD PH DAY? Every year on May 5th, pulmonary hypertension organizations and groups around the world participate in World Pulmonary Hypertension Day activities to raise awareness of this frequently misdiagnosed disease and celebrate the lives of people living with PH. World PH Day brings global attention to the importance of improving the quality of life and raising the life expectancy of the more than 25 million people living with PH worldwide.

W4, UNITED STATES (Special Event). Special event station W4M ("Whiskey 4 Moonshine") is now active until April 30th. Activity is to to commemorate (not celebrate) the 100 year anniversary of the beginning of Prohibition by celebrating the Moonshine Heritage of Franklin County. Operations will
be on 160/80/40/20/15/10 meters (depending upon volunteers preferences and equipment) using CW, SSB and the Digital modes. Their operations will take place primarily in Franklin and surrounding counties in Virginia. QSL via AF2T. For more details, visit their Web site at:
