3A, MONACO (Reminder). Operators Ennio/IW1RBI (Team Leader), Alessandro/IZ1AZA, Gianluca/IU1KBL and Andrea/IU1JXW will be active as 3A/IW1RBI from Monaco between now and May 30th. 4U29, ITALY (Special Event). Members of the 4U1GSC Amateur Radio Club are now active as 4U29MAY from the UN Global Service Center in Brindisi, Italy, until June 30th. Activity is to celebrate "International Day of UN Peacekeepers" (May 29th) [http://www.un.org/en/events/peacekeepersday/]. They hope that the "29MAY" suffix will be reminding you of this day when they pay tribute to more than 4,000 'Blue Helmets', UN Police and civilian personnel who lost their lifes whilst serving in field missions. Their efforts are one of the most concrete expressions of the UN Charter's determination to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war. Operations will be on 160-10 meters. Remember, this operation only counts
for Italy for DXCC.

5N - 5N9JLH is the callsign issued to Jean-Louis Haye, ZS6AAG, who was recently active as 5N7MSF He works for Medecins Sans Frontiers (Doctors Without Borders), and will be QRV during his spare time and the weekends until 15 September.

A3 - Masa, JA0RQV left Japan on 14 April. His final destination is Tonga, where he expects to remain through October and be active as A35JP. He is still stuck in Fiji, though: he spent two weeks in Managed Isolation and Quarantine, then flights to Tonga were suspended until the Covid-19 situation in Fiji improves. "I will update as soon as new schedule decided", he posted to his
blog (https://blog.goo.ne.jp/rqv) on 27 May.

C6 - Look for C6AHA to be active from the Bimini Islands (NA-048), Bahamas on 14-21 July. A large team (AC6ZM, K4KSW, KK4PHD, KN4CV, KN4KJC, N4QBS, N4RRR, NN2T and WA8Y) will operate SSB, CW and FT8 with up to five stations. QSL via Club Log's OQRS, LoTW, or via K4KSW.

C7, AUSTRIA. Members of the International Amateur Radio Contest DX Club (ARCDXC - United Nations, 4U1A) will be active as C7A during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 29-30th) as a Multi-Single entry from the International Meteorology Organization (WMO). QSL via UA3DX, direct or by the Bureau. ADDED NOTE: Remember this station counts for Austria (OE) for DXCC purposes and as 4U for the Vienna International Centre for the CQ DX Marathon award.

E2, THAILAND. Operators will be JayCie/E20NKB, Champ/E21EIC, Tony/E24OYI, Bun/E25KAE and Mew/E29TGW will be active as E2A during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 29-30th) as a Multi-2 entry. QSL via E21EIC or LoTW.

EA - Georgette ON6AK/EA5HZC, Jean ON5JV/EA5HZB and Paco ON6LP/EA5GVJ will be active as EH5SUB during the Museum Ships Weekend (5-6 June). Activity will take place from the "Delfin", a submarine formerly in service with the Spanish Navy, and now moored in Torrevieja. QSL via EA5GVJ.

EO30, UKRAINE (Special Event). Look for special event station EO30A to be active to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine. QSL via eQSL or LoTW.

F - Commemorating the 77th anniversary of the D-Day landings, members of the Association des Radioamateurs de l'Orne will operate special event station TM6UB from a bunker at Saint-Martin-de-Varreville (Utah Beach) on 5-6 June. QSL via operator's instructions.

F - TM5PH will be activated from Pierre-sur-Haute (1634 metres a.s.l.) in the Parc Regional du Livradois-Forez on 5-6 June during the Championnat de France THF (from 144 MHz to 47 GHz). Part of the team, however, will be QRV on the HF bands. QSL via F5RQQ.

F - Special callsign TM1PAR (the suffix stands for "parachute") will be active on 5-19 June to memorialize the 80th anniversary of the first of thousands of airdrops of supplies and arms to resistance groups in occupied France during WWII. QSL via the bureau to F5RRZ.

FJ, ST. BARTHELEMY. Phil, K2LIO, is expected to be active as K2LIO/FJ from Saint Barthelemy (NA-146) until August 5th. Phil states to look for him on 40/20/15 meters. He uses a Xeigu G90 with 20 watts into a MFJ endfed wire. QSL via his home callsign.

G - GB0UTA, GB1UTA and GB5UTA will be active between 1 and 28 June promoting Amateur Radio among the 450,000 strong University of the Third Age (U3A), an organisation that aims to help people learn, stay active and have fun in later life. QSL GB0UTA via eQSL;

I - The United Nations Global Service Centre ARC (4U1GSC) in Brindisi is active as 4U29MAY until 30 June. QSL via 9A2AA. The special callsign promotes the International Day of UN Peacekeepers (29 May). DXCC wise, it counts for Italy.

I2, ITALY. Giovanni, I2IFT, from Seriate, will be active during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 29-30th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (40m) entry. QSL via his home callsign.

OE60, AUSTRIA (Special Event). Alex, OE3DMA, has just received permission from the authorities to use the special callsign OE60ANT between July 1st and December 31st 2021. Activity is to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Antarctic Treaty System (ATS). The WAP special reference for OE60ANT

OG60, FINLAND. Olli, OH0XX, will be active as OG60BBM from Oulu during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 29-30th). The special callsign is used to celebrate his 60th anniversary as a ham. He received his first license as OH2BBM on March 24, 1962. QSL via OH0XX.

OP0, BELGIUM. Members of the Royal Belgian Amateur Radio Union (UBA) will be active as OP0HQ from UBA HQ Station during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 29-30th) as a Multi-Multi entry. QSL via ClubLog's OQRS, by the Bureau or direct to ON4CAS.

OX - Bo, OZ1DJJ will be active again as OX3LX from Greenland between 8 June and 10 July. He plans to be QRV on 6 and 4 metres ("but you will find me on HF too") from several locations along the southwest coast of Greenland, starting from grid locator GP60xr (Qaqortoq) and later from GP70, GP80 and possibly others. This will include IOTA activities from NA-018, NA-220 and
NA-151. He will be QRV in his spare time, typically around lunch time and after dinner (local time is UTC-2), also at night and in the morning hours during the weekends. QSL via LoTW, Club Log's OQRS or direct to OZ0J.

OY, FAROE ISLANDS. Stian, LB5SH, has announced that he will be active as OY/LB5SH from Torshavn, Faroe Islands (EU-018), for a one weekend operation sometime around August, September, or maybe October 2021. Dates will be announced in good time. Activity will mainly be on SSB and FT8. Bands of operation depend on what antennas he can take and set up at his QTH. QSL via his home callsign.

OZ - Volker, DJ8VW is active as 5P8VW from Romo Island (EU-125) from 21 May to 10 June. He operates SSB, CW and FT8 on all bands, with a focus on 6 and 4 metres. QSL via Club Log's OQRS (preferred), LoTW, eQSL, or direct to DJ8VW.

OZ - Special callsign 5P2UEFA will be active from 11 June to 11 July during UEFA EURO 2020, the quadrennial men's football (soccer) championship of Europe that this year will be hosted by multiple cities, Copenhagen included. Originally scheduled for 2020, the tournament has been postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. QSL via Club Log's OQRS, LoTW and eQSL, or via OZ1ACB. PA - Jan PA7X, Ruud PD0RH and Willem PA3CNI will operate SSB and CW as PA827HGV from the "Hoogeveen", a decommissioned minesweeper now moored in Den Helder, during the Museum Ships Weekend (5-6 June). QSL via operators' instructions.

SM - Lars, SM6CUK will be active holiday style as SA6G/7 from Ven Island (EU-137) on 7-12 June. He will operate CW on 40-10 metres. QSL via SM6CUK and LoTW; logsearch on Club Log.

TM1 FRANCE (Special Event). In memory of the first parachuting that took place on occupied French soil (June 15th, 1941), look for the special event callsign TM1PAR to be active between June 5-19th. Receive a special QSL via F5RRZ by the Bureau.

TM57, FRANCE (Special Event). To pay tribute to the individuals (YL and OM) who have suffered, those who are currently suffering or have passed (SK) as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, look for the special event callsign TM57COV to be used between June 15-29th. They also pay tribute to the caregivers who with strength and courage do an extraordinary job saving lives everyday throughout the world. TO9, ST. MARTIN. Team Leader John, K9EL, informs OPDX he is pleased to announce that his team will once again travel to the beautiful country of Saint Martin and operate TO9W between December 1-10th. He states the following [edited]: "As in past years, we will concentrate on the 160, 80 and 40 meter bands, with special emphasis on Asia on those bands. Our team this year will consist of Paul/K9NU, Mike/W9MK, Guy/VE2BWL, Marco/FS4WBS and John/K9EL. We will be building new directional receive only antennas for the 80 and 160 meter bands. Activity will be on CW, SSB, FT8/4 and limited RTTY.
We will have a very experienced pilot team who will forward any questions or problems to us in real time. We plan real time logging on ClubLog and daily updates to LoTW. UA - Special callsigns R90WTA and UE90WTA will be active from 29 May to 5 June in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Russian Military Transport Aviation (1 June 1931). QSLs via RV3YR.

UA - R6AW, R7LP, RU3EG, RU5D, RX3F, RX6CM and UA6MF will be active as R24NEW - possibly also as homecall/p - from Bakal'skij (Peschanyj) Island (EU-180,
RRA RR-24 10 for the Russian Robinson Award: https://hamlog.online/geo/rra/) on 22-27 June. Plans are to operate CW, SSB and FT8 on 80-10 metres with three stations. QSL R24NEW via

VP2V - Gary, NC3Z will be active as VP2V/NC3Z from Tortola, British Virgin Islands (NA-023) on 2-14 June. He will operate SSB and the FT modes. QSL via LoTW.

VP2V, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS (Postponed Again). Dave, W9DR, who was expected to be active as VP2V/W9DR from the north shore of the Island of Anegada (NA-023) in the British Virgin Islands (FK78TR) between June 17-24th, has canceled his 6 meter operation again due to the Covid-19
restrictions. He hopes to try again in June 2022.

W - Matt, AF2F is active again as AF2F/W4 from Hatteras Island (NA-067) from 25 May to 6 June. He operates CW and FT8 on the HF bands and 6 metres. QSL via Club Log's OQRS, LoTW, or via home call.

W - Bruce, K5TEN will be active again as K4D from Dog Island (NA-085) on 7-18 June. He will operate SSB, CW and FT8 on 40-6 metres. QSL direct to home call; he will upload his log to LoTW and eQSL.

XM2, CANADA. Pierre, VA2CZ, will be active as XM2Z from Sherbrooke, QC, during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power entry. QSL route is ONLY LoTW. No Paper QSL will be printed for this contest.

YB - Jilly, YB1JYL and others will be active as YB1JYL/7 from Sebuku Island (OC-166) on 10-11 June. They will operate SSB and FT8 on the HF bands. QSL via EA5GL.

Z2, ZIMBABWE (Update/Correction). Gertjan, 9J2GS (PA3CPG, 9J2GS, 3D6CW,
C30BBP), (and not Peter/PA3CPI as reported last week) is in Masvingo,
Zimbabwe, and is active as Z21DX. The length of his stay is not known.
Gertjan informs OPDX that he has lived in Zimbabwe/Southern Africa for
over 20 years now. Activity will be on SSB on all bands. He states,
"However, the propagation is still not picking up, so we look forward
to better days!" Gertjan was heard a few weeks go on 20 meters SSB (14247.5
kHz between 1743 and 1757z), but no QSNs this week. QRZ.com says QSL via
PA3CPI, but it is recommend to wait for new QSL info.

ZL - ZL25NZ is the special callsign for Jacky, ZL3CW to celebrate the 25th anniversary since he immigrated to New Zealand. The callsign is valid for one year, and Jacky will use for the first time during this weekend's CQ WW WPX CW Contest. QSL via ZL3CW and LoTW.

 

ZM1, NEW ZEALAND. Gavin, ZL1BBW, will be active as ZM1M from Whangarei during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 29-30th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m) entry. QSL via ZL1BBW.

EU-125. Volker, DJ8VW, is once again active as 5P8VW from Romo Island (WWFF OZFF-0004) until June 10th. Activity will be on 160-6 meters (possibly 4m), including the 30/17/12m bands, using

EU-137. Lars, SM6CUK, will once again be active as SA6G/7 from Ven Island between June 7-12th. Activity will be holiday style on 40-6 meters using mostly CW on or near the usual IOTA frequencies. QSL via SM6CUK, by the Bureau, direct, ClubLog or LoTW. NO eQSL.

EU-178. Operators Serge/ES1LL and Ed/ES2TT will be active as ES1LL/8 and ES2TT/8, respectively, from Kihnu Island between May 29-30th. Activity will be on 40/30/20/6 meters using CW and SSB (no Digital mode). They will try to call at ??14040 kHz and above. It will depend on the clogged band, but please log spots if you hear them. Suggested SSB frequencies are 14244 or 14260 kHz. On 30 meters watch around ??10120 kHz. They will monitor 50 MHz. Operations will be from the lighthouse in the morning and from the reserve in the afternoon and Sunday morning.

Reinaldo Leandro Rodriguez, YV5AM (ex YV5AMH) passed away in Miami, Florida on 23 May aged 79. A career diplomat for 36 years, he was a consul in France and the United States, as well as the Venezuelan ambassador to Nicaragua, Panama, Finland, Belgium, Argentina and the Vatican City.
First licensed in 1960, he joined IARU Region 2 in 1998 and held several positions; notably he served as the president of the Executive Committee from 2007 to 2019. An avid DXer with 338/352 current/total Entities in the DXCC Mixed, he was also a successful contester, especially in the M/M category with the YW4M and YV4A teams in the CQ WW WPX SSB and CQ WW DX SSB
contests. Besides operating as /W5, /I0, /OH2, /OH0, /LU, YN1AM and HP1YV, he participated in four DXpeditions to Aves Island - YV0AA (1984), YX0AI (1992), YV0D (2004) and YX0A/YX0LIX (2006) and in several IOTA operations from Venezuelan islands.

NEW BIRD TO BE LAUNCHED (MIR-SAT1). Jean Marc, 3B8DU, sent out the following on May 23rd: The first 3B8 satellite will be sent to the ISS (by JAXA) on the NASA SpaceX resupply mission-22 on the 3rd of June 2021, and will be deployed in June by the KIBO robotic arm.
The callsign is 3B8MIR (MIR-1 meaning Mauritius Imagery & Radio-communication Satellite 1).
Payloads are a camera and a digipeater (bent tube) which will be made available to the HAM community worldwide when satellite is not downloading images or used for experimental purposes, the uplink will be on 145.9875
MHz and the downlink on 436.925 MHz, 9K2 GMSK, as coordinated with IARU.
