3B8 - Simon Luttrell (ex-XW0LP) had moved to the Turkish coast of Fethiye, but "the cold weather created a lot of problems for my lungs, and I had to quickly look for a new and hot country to call home", he posted to eHam.net on 10 January. He has now left Turkey and relocated to "sunny Mauritius. I have rented a nice house with a big garden, and hope to be on the air in the next month or so with my 3B8 callsign. Especially, I hope to do some low band DXing".

5Z - Ferdy's trip to Kenya has been delayed, and now he expects to be QRV as 5Z4/HB9DSP on
17-31 January. He will operate SSB and some FT8 on 20, 15 and 10 metres. QSL via LoTW and home call (bureau preferred).

6Y - Neville, G3RFS will be active again as 6Y5FS from Jamaica (NA-097) starting around 13 January for two months. QSL via LoTW, Club Log's OQRS, or via G4BWP. The logs will be computerised after Nev returns home.

G - Special event stations GB1900HA (operated by M0MNE) and GB1900HW (operated by M0TKF) will be active between 24 January and 23 December for the 1900th anniversary since the beginning of the construction of Hadrian's Wall (https://1900.hadrianswallcountry.co.uk/).
QSLs via Club Log's OQRS and LoTW. A former defensive fortification which marked the boundary between Roman Britannia and unconquered Caledonia to the north, Hadrian's Wall is the largest Roman archaeological feature in Britain, and has been inscripted on the UNESCO World Heritage Site List since 1987.

I - II2IDT is the special callsign celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Italian DXpedition Team. Look for activity on 160-10m SSB, CW and FT8 on 5-13 February. QSL via I2YSB. A certificate for at least 5 QSOs and plaques for the three top scores will be available. See

JA - JI3DST/5, JJ5RBH, JS6RRR/5 and JS6RRR/p (for FT8) will be active from Shodo Island (AS-200) between 20 January and 24 February. Look for activity on 80-2m CW, SSB and digital modes. QSL via operator's instructions.

LU - AMSAT Argentina, LU7AA will celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the LUSAT (LO-19) satellite on 15-23 January. Activity on the HF bands will be on SSB, CW and digital modes. More information can be found at http://lu4aao.org/lu7aa/cert_32_aniv_lusat_2022.htm.

PY - A large team will be active as PX7B from the Pedra da Boca State Park in the Brazilian state of Paraiba on 14-16 January. They will operate SSB, CW, FT8 and via satellite on 80-6 metres. QSL via PR7AB (direct and bureau) and LoTW.

TU - Petr OK1BOA, Petr OK1FCJ and David OK6DJ will be active again as TU5PCT from the Cote d'Ivoire between 4 and 13 February, with "full operation" expected on 7-12 February. UA - Special callsigns R900BL, R900DM, R900DV and R900RO will be activated from Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast on 17-31 January for the annual commemoration of the end (27 January 1944) of the nearly 900-day siege of Leningrad during World War II. QSL via
operator's instructions.

UA_ant - Alex, UG1A (ex-RD1AV) will be active again as RI1ANC from Vostok Station, Antarctica starting on 13 January until early February. In his spare time he will operate mainly CW. QSL via Club Log's OQRS, or via RN1ON.

W - The Marconi Cape Cod Radio Club, KM1CC will be active from 13.30 UTC on 18 January until 02.00 UTC on 19 January to commemorate the 119th anniversary of the first transatlantic wireless communication between the United States and Europe (18 January 1903). The message was sent from Marconi's station in South Wellfleet, Massachusetts and received at his station in Poldhu, England. Look for activity on 40-10 metres CW (neither SSB nor digital modes). QSL via LoTW (preferred), or direct to N1NS.

YB - Look for YB1TIA/4 to be joining YB1TDL/4 and YC1RQZ/4 and be active from Rakata Island (OC-262) on 15-20 January. QSLs direct to HA3JB (OQRS on http://www.ha3jb.com/oqrs.html). Also QRV from the same location will be YB1RET/4 (QSL via LoTW), who will operate SSB on 15-16 January for about 30 hours.

YB - YB6ABO/p, YC1BIQ/6, YD0AVE/6 and YE1AR/6 will be active from Pulau Rondo (OC-245) on 20-27 January. The island is Indonesia’s northern most territory. They will operate FT8 as well as CW and SSB on 160-10m. QSL YB6ABO/p, YC1BIQ/6 and YD0AVE/6 via N2OO; QSL YE1AR/6 via Club Log's OQRS or via N2OO.

YB - Donny, YB0DX (incumbent ORARI Chairman for 2021-26) and Dave, YC5YC (founder & director of https://dxportable.com/, DXPortable Amateur Radio) will be active as YB0DX/7 (QSL via YB8RW) and YC5YC/7 (QSL via EA7FTR) from Kalimantan, the Indonesian portion of the island of Borneo (OC-088) on 23-24 January. They will operate SSB and digital modes on the HF bands.

Saifuddahar Shahid, S21A died in Albuquerque, New Mexico on 9 January, aged 75. A graduate of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, he created Shahidlipi, the first Bangla keyboard developed for the computer (1985). A founding member and first President of the Bangladesh Amateur Radio League (1979), "after working hard lobbying and negotiating with government officials for more than twelve years", he and other BARL members eventually succeeded in launching Amateur Radio in the country. In 1992 Saif got the first licence issued in Bangladesh, S21A; seven years later he migrated to the US, where he held the callsign KF6WJZ.

B4/BG2CNO: CANCELLED ---> Due to adverse weather and sea conditions, the 13-15 January operation from Lingshan Island (AS-150) has been cancelled. Hopefully it will be rescheduled at a later date.

E20AX/P: POSTPONED ---> Due to the current outbreak caused by the Omicron variant, the E20AX/p operation from Koh Samet (AS-107), originally scheduled for 8-10 January, has been postponed to a later date TBA.

IDXC 2022: CANCELLED ---> The 73rd International DX Convention, which was due to be held in Visalia on 8-10 April, has been cancelled "in response to to the current covid virus threat". Those who had hotel reservations should contact the hotel as soon as possible to ensure they are cancelled.

MARCONI CLUB'S QSO PARTY DAY ---> The fourth edition will be be held on 22 January from 7 to 18 UTC, on 80, 40 and 20 metres CW. Complete rules can be found on http://www.ariloano.it/marconiclub/. ARI Loano Marconi Club is a member of the International CW Council (https://internationalcwcouncil.org/) which "promotes and aids in the retention and growth of International Morse Code as a mode of communication between amateur radio operators".
